Flight Booking FAQs
Plain language. The Booking Terms, airline fare rules and applicable law govern if more detail is required.

What does Direct Flights do?
We are a travel agent and booking intermediary. We help search, arrange, book and later ticket flights. The airline operates the flight.
Is my flight confirmed when I pay?
Not necessarily. A payment receipt or Direct Flights reference is not an issued ticket. This launch creates a live booking only. The flight is ticketed when a valid e-ticket number exists.
Why can the fare change before ticketing?
Availability, taxes and fares can change between search, payment, revalidation and ticket issue. We will not issue at a higher total without your agreement.
What is included in the total?
The advertised total is the card total: flight and taxes plus a Direct Flights booking fee. PayID or EFT can be cheaper when the fare can be held for at least 72 hours — the airline fare and booking fee stay the same. Apple Pay and Google Pay will use the same total as card when they go live. PayPal is not offered.
What is the Direct Flights booking fee?
Any Direct Flights booking fee is included in the total shown before payment. You can review the fare, taxes and fee in the price breakdown. We do not add the fee again at checkout.
What should I check before paying?
Every traveller name, dates, local times, airports, terminals, connections, marketing and operating airline, fare conditions, baggage, total price and whether any flights are on separate tickets.
How must names appear?
Exactly as on the passport or accepted travel identification. Airlines may treat a name change as a new booking.
What baggage is included?
It depends on airline, operating carrier, route and fare. Check every sector. If baggage is blank or zero, do not assume checked bags are included.
What is a codeshare flight?
One airline’s flight number may be operated by another. The operating carrier often controls check-in, baggage and seating. Review both carriers.
Is my connection protected?
Only if it is on one through-ticket or labelled protected. Separate-ticket or self-transfer flights are independent. We do not guarantee an unprotected connection.
Can I change or cancel?
Only as the airline fare rules and the law allow. Airline charges and a disclosed Direct Flights booking fee may apply. Send cancellation through the channel on your confirmation.
What fees apply?
The total, airline amounts and the Direct Flights booking fee are shown before payment. PayID / EFT may show a saving from that total.
What if the airline changes my flight, or I miss it?
We pass on material information we receive. Your rights depend on airline terms and Australian Consumer Law. If you miss a flight, contact the airline and us immediately. Do not skip a sector without checking.
Are seats, meals and frequent-flyer benefits guaranteed?
No. They are confirmed only when the airline accepts them.
Who checks passports and visas?
Each traveller. Check embassies, the airline and Smartraveller.
Do you sell travel insurance?
Not on this flights-only launch. We strongly recommend cover from a licensed provider.
What if the website fails during booking?
Do not immediately book again. Contact us with the time, itinerary and payment status so we can avoid a duplicate reservation.
Who should I contact urgently?
[email protected] or 1300 234 909. For imminent travel outside our hours, also contact the operating airline. Do not ask both parties to make conflicting changes.
